Do "Christians" always have an excuse for their bad behavior?

Mom blames Satan for burning baby in microwave

GALVESTON — A woman blames the devil and not her husband for severely burning their infant daughter after the 2-month-old was put in a microwave, a Houston television station reported.

Eva Marie Mauldin said Satan compelled her 19-year-old husband, Joshua Royce Mauldin, to microwave their daughter May 10 because the devil disapproved of Joshua's efforts to become a preacher.

"Satan saw my husband as a threat. Satan attacked him because he saw (Joshua) as a threat," Eva Mauldin told Houston television station KHOU-TV....

This reads like the headline of a supermarket tabloid, doesn't it?

I find it interesting, how so many self-defined "Christians" manage to blame Satan for their own misdeeds, while condemning others' misdeeds as Bad Character at work. Immediately, this story reminded me how quickly Ted Haggard's congregation "forgave" him after he admitted to homosexual acts, drug use, adultery, and having lied about all of it.

It's all just a little too convenient.

It's no wonder you have ZERO comments on your blog. You can't even hold an intellectual discussion for two seconds without breaking into assumptions and bias. I doubt your blog will ever get anywhere, since you have nothing meaningful to say..proven by your vapid posts on Digg. Good luck in life, moron!

I have--temporarily--let this comment stand, simply to demonstrate the quality of thought and communication that occurs among Digg users.

You may notice that the commenter has made criticisms that he has not bothered to support, except by name-calling, even as he accuses me of some sort of flawed thinking.

You will also note that this communication does not demonstrate an honest desire on the part of the writer to educate me in the areas about which he believes I am wrong.

Finally, you will not that this individual has assumed I will even publish his comment, much less allow it to remain unremarked or un-redacted.

This fellow is obviously a product of the public school system, assuming he is old enough to have completed the K-through-12 routine.

The most disturbing part about the message is the thought that this individual represents the class of people I will eventually be forced to depend upon to empty my bed pan.
