I can't let James Brown's funeral pass without observing these two things:

1. The AP report of the doings in Augusta notes that during the days of viewings in NYC and Georgia, Brown's clothing was changed three times. Ever the showman, even in death. He would have loved it.

2. For once, Al Sharpton has said something that resonates and actually makes sense. Regarding Brown's career, and his influence on Black America, Sharpton noted, "When he started singing, we were sitting in the back of the bus. When he stopped singing we were flying Lear jets,"
