Out of work as a politician, Gore is now flacking for Wally World

Former Vice President and environmental activist Al Gore is planning to address Wal-Mart Stores Inc. executives next week at the retailer's quarterly conference on sustainability, part of the company's recent efforts to become an environmental leader

Whoopee! Now that they have crapped all over US retailing and manufacturing, the Company from Hell is finally developing a conscience? This sounds like nothing more than the next big marketing dodge--phony sincerity.

First thing Wal-Mart ought to do to become "responsible" is to correct the fire-trap floor plans in its stores. You get in the middle of things, and there is no clearly identifiable path to an exit.

Second thing they could do, in the name of "sustainability" is to get rid of all the products that are overpackaged in plastic blister packs.

When I see any of that happening, I'll start to believe the press releases. In the meantime, it's
