Religion does not equal God

Those who profess to believe in the Holy Bible (or more specifically, some particular translation of the Holy Bible) as the undiluted Word of God have apparently neglected to read the introductory material of their particular copy of the book. For example, Zondervan's preface to the New International Version describes a process of selection and translation that can lead only to the conclusion that the Word of God has been heavily redacted and interpreted by a committee of Men. And little assurance was given that the men (and presumably, women) on this committee acted from motives that are 100% pure, humans being flawed as they are.
